Richard Dacre is the author of the critically acclaimed study of Norman Wisdom - TROUBLE IN STORE: A Career In Comedy and has subsequently worked on several television documentaries about the great comedian. He contributed the essay on comedy films for The British Cinema Book published by the BFI in 1997 - about to enter its third updated) edition. He has also contributed entries to The Encyclopedia of British Film and to Directors in British and Irish Cinema - some of which can be read at BFI ScreenOnline - and continues to write and lecture extensively on the cinema. For many years he ran the film memorabilia business, Flashbacks, and before that was a manager at the late-lamented Scala Cinema in London, a member of The Other Cinema Collective, and did a 2- season stint on the classic children’s puppet series CLOPPA CASTLE.
